Golden Rules for Making Money

When a book is more than 100 years old the copyright expires. That is why P.T Barnum’s masterpiece from 1880 is freely available for reading online. The book is known under two names: “Art of Money Getting” and “Golden Rules for Making Money.”
I’ve browsed through some of the chapters and this is really good stuff. 126 years old and it is basically the same advice as Donald Trump gave me in his “How to get rich.”
A few good chapters are:
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO IT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT
LEARN SOMETHING USEFUL
READ THE NEWSPAPERS
BE POLITE AND KIND TO YOUR CUSTOMERS
DON’T BLAB
PRESERVE YOUR INTEGRITY
Have a look at it and enjoy the basic, common sense advice that clearly stood the test of time and inspired countless of later “how to get rich” books.

Good find. Some of it seems similar to the 48 Laws of Power, which is interesting, since Barnum is used as an example a couple times in that book. I was surprised at how short some of the chapters were. Not a man who over-explains things, that’s for sure.
Ah, thanks for the tip/reminder Michael. The 48 laws of power is ordered for beach reading this summer. I dislike fiction, so I just have to accept that it seems a bit dorky to lie on the beach reading these kind of books.
Great share - What might sound familiar is really the fact that the advice is timeless. Two more I would add - DON’T MISTAKE YOUR VOCATION and Be Systematic. You can tell PT Barnum preached a sense of balance as in not being so systematic that it cripples your business which holds true to your personal life too.

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article, but it sounds interesting…
