If you have written an interesting post it is no shame in submitting it to social bookmark / hot link sites. Just be sure you stay within the topic of the site and do not overdo it or spam them. The top sites are:
I had some success with this when I wrote my business game review about Executive Suite. I submitted it to the social bookmarking sites myself and it resulted in a link from fark. I must stress the importance of being selective. To illustrate, I have not submitted my post about selling firewood to any of the above sites. This post mainly consists of links to other resources and adds little new to the topic of starting & marketing blogs. In an ideal world you would hope a visitor to your blog finds a post interesting, and then propose it to the above sites.
